A night out that feels like a night in!
All Hame-ish shows lean into the Scottish ceilidh tradition, which you might think of as being about dancing, but originally also featured performances by musicians, poets and storytellers.
Therefore at a Hame-ish performers take turns to share their work with each piece inspired in some way by the work that’s just been shared. This creates a natural flow of shared themes between pieces and a sense of togetherness between performers. This togetherness results in an atmosphere which is warm and welcoming for our audiences.
Hame-ish Cabaret we have up to two feature acts and our HAME-ISH LIVE set.
For our HAME-ISH LIVE set performers to select the pieces to perform based on what the previous performer has shared- ‘on the fly’ without any preparation!

Mairi-Claire and Ed have been this running regular Hame-ish shows since 2018 – these have followed the format that we now refer to as a Hame-ish Original.
These shows feature music, poetry, and spoken word acts who prior to each show have worked together to create the running order of performances. The curation process provides a space for performers to collaborate and for new friendships to form. The resulting shows give audiences the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate a range of original work from a wide range of Scotland-based artists and creatives.
The shows have provided a platform for creatives to reach new audiences while bringing to life the joy of a Hame-ish.
