Hame-ish Arts
Hame-ish Arts is an arts production and promotion company run by Scotland-based artists and creatives Mairi-Claire Traynor and Ed Ritchie
A night out that feels
like a night in
Mairi-Claire and Ed have been running regular arts evening Hame-ish since 2018.
Hame-ish events feature music, poetry, and spoken word in-the-round which invite audiences to a night out that feels like a night in.
The show’s format leans into the Scottish ceilidh tradition, which you might normally think of as primarily dancing, but originally featured performances by musicians and poets too.
Rather than a conventional series of sets, Hame-ish performers stay onstage and perform their work by taking turns and following a collaboratively devised order. This helps to create a natural flow between pieces and a sense of collective ownership of the end-to-end show.
A space to collaborate and for new friendships, Hame-ish shows give audiences the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate a range of original work from a wide range of Scotland-based artists and creatives.
The shows have provided a platform for more than 30 music and poetry acts so far. They have allowed these creatives to reach new audiences while bringing to life the joy of Hame-ish.
